Our Story
‘Só’ — inspired by the Irish word for comfort and quiet luxury
Founded in 2016
I started Só Soy in October 2016 from my parents’ kitchen, driven by a real curiosity about candles and how they were made. After a lot of trial and error, my very first fragrance, Lemongrass, Lime & Ginger Root, was born.
At the time, I struggled to find candles that combined clean burning soy wax, luxurious fragrances, and a minimalist design that complemented modern interiors. Creating something that ticked all of those boxes for myself became the beginning of Só Soy.
From the beginning, I wanted the collection to feel simple, timeless, and fragrance led, allowing each scent to speak for itself. As the brand grew, so did the collection, expanding into reed diffusers, wax melts, room sprays, fragrance oils, and most recently, hand & body care in May 2026.
For many years, I balanced Só Soy alongside a full time job. In my fourth year of business, I finally made the leap to work on the brand full time as it had grown beyond what I could manage alone.
In February 2021, I moved out of working from home and into our own Ballymoney based studio. Once restrictions lifted, we opened the Só Soy store, creating a physical space where customers could experience our fragrances in person and shop the collection.
In 2023, we introduced our in studio candle making workshops, welcoming guests into our studio to create their own custom fragrances and experience the brand in a more personal way.
Today, Só Soy is proudly run by a small team of three people, with every product still thoughtfully hand poured and packed in Northern Ireland.
All of our products are vegan friendly and cruelty free. We use fine fragrance oils and responsibly sourced soy wax from suppliers who share our values around quality and ethical production.
I’m incredibly grateful for every order, visit, recommendation, and message of support over the years. Watching this small business continue to grow has been something really special, and I hope you’ll continue to follow along as Só Soy evolves.
