Scented Soy Wax Candles FAQs

How to use wax melts?

Our wax melts can be used whole, or cut in half or into quarters, depending on the size of your wax melt burner. Pop a tealight underneath that isn't fragranced, light the tealight, and let the magic happen. Over time with warmth, the wax will slowly start to melt and our fragrance will fill your home. Relax and enjoy!

Have an electric burner? No problem, our wax melts are perfect for both. Practice safety first and never leave unattended.

What is a wax melt?

Wax tarts are scented pieces of wax, and unlike candles, they have no wick and need to be used with tea light or electric wax burners in order to release their fragrance. Haven't experienced them before? Don't worry, we do home fragrancing right at Só Soy.

Are wax melts better than candles?

We believe this is an entirely personal preference. People sometimes prefer one more than the other, or some like to use a mixture of scented candles and melts throughout their home. Wax melts can be a great introduction to a fragrance, so you can try without commitment. Not your thing? Shop our reed diffusers, room spray, and carpet freshener

Can I make my own wax melts?

Fancy a go? We offer wax melt making workshops in our Ballymoney based studio. Get in touch here to book in with us. We'll assist you in making your own completely natural wax melts. From lemongrass and patchouli, to sweet orange and ylang ylang essential oil - there's a unique scent blend for everyone.

How much scent is released?

Our wax melts are highly scented and tend to last for 3 or 4 burns. We advise using our wax melts until the scent is no longer noticeable, or until you fancy a change of scent. Repeat the process with a new wax melt again, until there is no fragrance left. Typically 1/2 of one of our wax melts will last for 12 hours (24 hours each whole melt). Enjoy a strong scent and the best quality with Só Soy.

How often should I change the wax in my warmer?

Typically 1/2 a wax melt will last for 12 hours (24 hours each whole melt if you prefer a stronger scent). We advise you change your wax melts when they lose their smell. Can't wait until the fragrance has gone? It's perfectly fine to switch scents when you just fancy a change.

What wax melter should I use?

We have our own selection of wax warmers here at Só Soy that you can shop with us here. Our soy wax melts can be used in electric warmers and with tealights, although if you have a burner on the small-side, please ensure you cut your melt to avoid over-flowing.

Do wax melts evaporate?

Unlike candles, wax melts are wickless and will not come in contact with a naked flame. This means that the wax itself will not disappear, but the scent will evaporate. Once your fragrance has faded, you can remove your melt and replace with fresh wax.

How do you remove wax melts?

At Só Soy we have a favourite way of removing old wax melts once they lose their scent. Simply wait until your wax melt has set completely, light a tea light underneath for a couple of minutes (just enough to start melting ever so slightly), and then pop the wax melt out whole.

Another way to remove your wax melt, is to soak it up with a cotton pad once it has melted.

Are wax melts vegan friendly?

Yes, our wax melts are vegan, non-toxic and eco-friendly. We hand pour each wax melt using natural soy wax, and avoid plastic packing - our wax melts come in recyclable paper instead. Made from a blend of soya beans and botanical oils, we only use wax in our products from suppliers that are responsibly and ethically minded. Our products are never tested on animals, and are free from animal products or by-products. We really try our best to be environmentally friendly.
